Fence F.A.Q.'s |
|
I am in the market for a new privacy fence. Which kind is best?It depends. The least expensive fence material is spruce, and it will last about 10 years. Cedar fences last 12 - 15 years, or longer. One very long-lasting, modern innovation is the development of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) fencing. This type of plastic fence resists the deterioration found in wood fences, and it always looks great. |
Should I stain and seal my fence?A stained/ sealed fence will last longer and weather better. Of course, some people like the rustic silver-gray patina that occurs with the natural aging of wood. This decision is a matter of personal taste. Fences must be stained/ sealed every three years. We do not recommend a clear sealant, which has to be reapplied each year. The color pigments in stain provide protection from sun damage. We offer a variety of colors. |
How long does it take to get my new fence installed? For homeowners who call us, our goal for installation is within two weeks of signing a contract. Sometimes the fence is built much sooner! For builders and commercial contractors, contact us for scheduling dates. |
Does All-Texas Fence offer any kind of warranty?Of course! Our one year warranty covers both materials and workmanship. |
What about other kinds of fence? Does All-Texas fence install wrought iron (or rail fence, chain link, retaining walls...)?We build many types of fences. Tell us what you need! |
What are the different parts of a fence called? I'd like to describe the work I want done. The supporting piece of a fence, the one mounted in concrete, is called a post. Posts may be metal or treated wood. The crossmembers are called rails; they are attached to the posts and then the pickets are nailed to them. |
